Dash Picture Thread (Custom)

Looking for pictures of "custom" dashes. There was a thread about race car dashes in the autocross forum, but I would like to see more street car dashes that have been modified in different ways. I have some ideas about my own, but wanted to see what has been done.

Thanks

Replaced the ashtray with VDO volt and outside temperature gauges. Not very custom and the pic could be better but you get the idea.

Great idea. I've been staring at the hole where my ashtray used to be trying to figure out what to do. If someone made a molded piece for that space that held gauges, they'd sell a million of 'em.

I believe it's VDO that does make a molded rubber piece that happens to fit that hole...close, at least, and I think it could easily be cut down a bit.

I kinda dig the Porsche design wheel. One doesn't see many of those around.

Totally. Been telling Porsche-part making buddies that for years, still no one does it.

Shane, do you mean pics of clocks or actual changed dashboards?

Hey John! I am looking for the whole dash mate.

Good to see a post from you. Either you or I have been very busy... probably bothSmileWavy

gumba,

What is the theory behind rotating the speedo?

Thanks,
Jack

not original, however this is a recovered in leather 74+dash with R&R on each side of the heater vents with the central heating duct covered (My 72 doesn't have c-duct). found a guy to R&R, recover (in vinyl) for $200 if you need him. i installed a solid knee bar this one is out of an earlier 911/912 (i think about 68??) i do not smoke and i hate the ash tray. simple but cleanhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1251077311.jpg

The steering wheel often blocks the mph over 90 so you rotate it to see the numbers. Same with the tach. Rotate it so redline is straight up. Or, in fitting with the subject of this thread you can do what I did, get the gauges customized (sorry not a complete dash pic)

Hey Kurt,

Who did you have do your speedo and tach work. Looks great. any issues? how long back in service?

SCWDP911 08-23-2009 06:11 PM

Here is the direction I have been thinking of going in with my cabriolet. Thinking about a speedster inspired project. Car is finally back in my garage and now I am really in a quandry as to what to do (molest it or sell and molest a targa instead)... still floating ideas around though. Always looking for more inspiration... Here is the inspiration I would use for my dash (just as a basis)... (sorry for the weeman photo)

North Hollywood did the work and that was over 12,000 miles and several years ago. They added the volt meter and deleted the CASIS upshift light in addition to the other changes. Not cheap. But it was plug and play.

Here's a couple different ones:

A lot of the slant-nose cars had some custom or Special Wishes parts in the interiors. Look for Gemballa pics too, they are pretty out there.

Nice, I like the solid knee bar. I may have to source one of these if it will fit my car.
