1980 911sc Pops coughs upon start up

Just have a few general questions, My new to me 911sc tends to pop and cough during the 1st minute of the first start up of the day, after that during warm up driving between 2-3 grand, I try and keep it under 3500 until I hit 190, she almost seems like she is missing lurching a bit, after 190 most of this feel is gone, however if I keep a steady foot on the throttle in second between 2-3 grand the car seems to exhibit that coughing feel.
Your thoughts and knowledge are welcomed. No cat, KN air box modifications.

Regards-

JS

I would start with a basic ignition tune up which would include new ignition cables regardless of how the existing ones appear visually or electrically.

You may just need a simple air/fuel mixture adjustment. My 83 was doing the same thing about a year ago and I had my mechanic adjust the mixture while he was doing some other work and that stopped the problem. I don't even think he charged me for it. I will say that mine still does that in temperatures under 50 degrees, but that's probably not a big problem for you in Hawaii.

If you search you will find this is a very common symptom on these cars.

After you determine your ignition components are OK, you should check your mixture, as Matlock said. It may be just all that is wrong. It is also possible, and very common, that your WUR is out of spec, giving you a too lean mix @ startup. This can be checked w/ a fuel pressure gauge. If the cold control pressure turns out to be too high, it is easily adjusted by knocking the plug on the top of the WUR down slightly.
