I am about to put my a/c compressor back in, reattach hoses, new O rings, etc. Bentley says you should check the "oil" in the compressor. What does this mean? How do you check it? Where do you put the oil? What kind of oil?
I have just ordered a new dryer and rear condensor and was told by the vendor that you do not need to put oil in them (though Bentley says you do). I am confused. |

Along with the coolant (R-12 or R-134) there is oil added to lubricate the system. This is very critical for the long life of the a/c system. A repair shop should know how much to add and what type.

Usually it's mineral oil and serves to lube the compressor.
