Pulling to the right

Hi there,

Installed turbo tie rods and got a four wheel alignment done right after. Prior to installing the TTRs I noticed my 86 targa tended to pull to the right a little, figured this would be solved by the alignment. I had the four wheel alignment done at one of those franchise muffler, wheel and alignment shops...Active Green & Ross they're called. The technician took a long time on my car....it sat on their lift for over 3 hours. I went out for a quick drive after they were done with the tech who did my car. It seemed a bit straighter, albeit I couldn't tell that well on the rough patch of road we did the post-alignement test on. Unfortunately, I was in a bit of a rush to get somewhere so I left it at that and came home.

On the way home and ever since, I've noticed that it is still pulling to the right. It takes alot more effort making a left turn than turning right, if this makes any sense. It seems like there's alot of "friction" on the steering wheel causing me to put more force into completing a left hand turn. Alot less effort is needed to get the car to turn right. I don't know how else to explain it.

My ride height to the fender seems even on each side. The front of the car is at 25" and the rear at 25.75". I have checked my pressure and all is matched up (29 psi front, 34 psi rear). I've played with height and psi, up and down a few notches, but the pulling to the right is still there.

Before taking it back to the shop, I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to why my car would be pulling to the right like this?

Don't guess at it. Take it back and tell them it's not right. Get a printout of the alignment specs and post them here. Shops that do not know 911s can bugger them up but good sometimes. You shouldn't have "friction" when turning unless you have a low tire, which you have already checked.

Did they align the rear wheels during the four-wheel alignment? I ask only because this would require specialised tools which "general auto" shops probably wouldn't have on hand.

some alighnment adjustments at the rear can have an effect on ride height and corner balance. You need a proper Porsche shop to do the alignment.
