Post Short Shift Kit

Hello everybody,

Has anybody fitted the factory short shift kit to their motor? If so, how long did it take to fit and was it worth it?

Thanks in advance.

Simon,

There are several threads on this one, just use the search facility.
Opinion is divided on which kit is best, I bought the very cheap kit sold by Porscheshop,
it's basically a shorter gear lever & costs £36, the factory kit is obviously a lot better (well more involved) but 4 times the price.
I'll let you know if it is any good.

I have the same car as you, are you going to the 911 & Porsche magazine track day in Aug.?
Someone to talk 2.7 stuff with, possibly.

Jon

Cool

I have the factory short shifter. I like it alot. I have heard, however, that it speeds up synchro wear because you are actually shifting harder at the transmission, even though you don't feel it at the lever. Supposedly the factory short shifter does this less than all other setups, but it is still a factor. For me, it makes it much easier to reach 3rd gear on the track from my seat position when I have my 5-point harness on.

Nick.

Did a search and there is loads of info there to read. Thanks.

Not sure about the track day. Work may get in the way. The car is about to go into the garage to have a leaking cam cover gasket replaced. Fingers crossed that is all it is! If not... looks like it may be off the road for a while!
