SteveW chipped '88 Carrera might be running alittle rich?

Backround: '88, 86K miles, SteveW 93 oct. SSI chip, SSi's and M&K 2 in 1 out muffler

My Carrera has felt great lately, until last night. It just didn't seem very lively and sounded somewhat muffled. I've had my chip and exhaust combo for about three years now and love every minute of it. Other things done in the last few years are: O2 sensor, head temp sensor, cap/rotor and Magnacor wires.

Since the chip I've notice that it barely searches for an idle, meaning runs smooth for 30 secs thens raises idle very slightly, maybe 50 rpm for a second, then smooth again. But it does not rev freely when cold. I'm kinda wondering if I'm running to rich. Plugs show maybe alittle too rich, gonna throw another set in next week. Pipe tip is on the black side. Unfortunately I only drive it 6 times a month at most.

Gonna get a AFM meter. Do I need the full LM-2 meter? I don't have OBD on my '88, so I dont need that, but can I get away with just getting a LM-1? When i do get one, where is the Ratio suppose to be?

Thanks for your time.

You DID disconnect the brown wire by the ECU, right? Common oversight....

Thank you all for the replies. I will probably email Steve soon.
Yes, I do remember reading about the famous brown wire, both here and in Steve's paperwork. But I don't remember finding any single brown wire around my ecu or under the drivers seat, so I just assumed they had omitted it by '88.
So today I found a two wire connector that has a brown wire and a brown/black stripe wire connected to a light blue/red stripe wire and a white/black stripe wire. I think it runs to the altitude sensor? Am I suppose to disconnect that two wire connector or look for the single brown wire some more?

Ah ha! I just looked at the installation instructions on Steve's website and they now have pictures. Now I know what to look for in the brown wire. I'll reconnect the altitude sensor and look for the single brown wire.

What do y'all think about the Innovate LM-1? I'm thinking that the LM-2 might be alittle much for what I need.

Ideal AFR for a 911 is 13.2:1 . They seem to like to be a bit leaner than most conventional wisdom that calls for 12.7:1 for a high performance engine.

I believe that's at WOT since the 02 is in control at part throttle and you don't have much control of that.

So unplugging it will make it run slightly richer.
