BMW seats fit 911?

Has anybody tried fitting the Recaro seats from a BMW E30 M3 to a 911?
Any problems, tips? Thanks DB

I looked into this last year but didn't purchase the seats in the end.

You will need to fab up seat rails.

seats!

when i got my first porsche in 84 i bought a pair of these seats. look good, sit well, and well built...but they sit much higher than the porsche seats...i put them in by lowering the seat rail mounting which required modifying a very original 72 coupe. i would not do it again.

Thanks for the responses.
Was it not possible to modify the seat itself?

I had those seats installed in my 73.

Like lin7310948 said, the rails needed to be lowered....there was no way to mod the seat....the tilting/elevating mechanism underneath the seat is integral and could not be removed.

When I fabbed the lower rails, they allowed the seat to sit lower between the lands on the floor but this caused the seat to not align with the steering wheel. I always felt like I was snuggled up against the driver's door.

PS, they were comfortable and supportive.....and in the right application, they would be nice seats.

For the reasons listed I passed on the seats I was looking at. Sure, I COULD probably make them work but I thought it was too much work for any benefit.

Now, manual BMW seats could be much easier, I believe.

Sorry about that. I haven't found many non-power BMW seats in my search. Glad I didn't buy the set I was looking at.

I've always thought a BMW E30 seat like this would look good in an early car:

seat

that is the seat that i put in my 72...as stated previously they look good and vintage but do not fit without major revision to the chassis seat mount areas...not worth the effort in my opinion!
