Early & late 245 mm 11 blade fans - same?

I'm hoping someone here can answer for me whether the 245mm 11 blade fans are the same for early 911s (mid-60's through mid-70's) and late SC/Carreras (80-89 I believe). I think the pulley may be different, but is the fan itself different? Thanks.

Scott

Scott,

Yes, the 245 mm, 11-blade fan castings are the same. There are a few minor differences that don’t affect anything. Yes, the hubs are different. Yes, you can exchange hubs by drilling out the aluminum rivets and replacing them with countersunk bolts and steel lock nuts.

Best,
Grady

Thanks Grady for this information. Does the difference in hubs impact compatibility with early vs. late 911s?

Ahh....ummmm....

Very, very early "245" fans were actually 250 mm....like in 64-65 or so....

How to tell a early 250mm fan blade

The hub has to do with how the belt runs on the fan. Fans with the large holes on the hub should run with the pulley half that matches.
The later used a larger pulley and ratio changed with the smaller fan hub which you should match.
