Summit Point Sold to Feds?
While I am not starting this rumor, it is being discussed on other boards...
This is not completely unfounded as Bill Scott has had them as a very good customer for a long time.. http://www.usaspending.gov/fpds/fpds.php?reptype=r&detail=-1&sortby=f&datype=T&reptype=r&database=fpds&database=fpds&parent_id=57145&fiscal_year=2009&record_num=f500

Is this related to the Flight 93 memorial somehow?

Summit point is a government training facility for state department drivers heading overseas.
In addition there are recreational driving schools and races there. I am an instructor for Bill Scott Racing which runs the track. I am concerned about this rumor and I have heard it many times. |

The Feds and state have used Summit Point for decades. I instructed there back in the 90's on occasion for them. This is nothing new.

The most factual update from other boards is that the land is still owned by Bill Scott, and all current DE events are continuing.
Sorry if this seemed like a false alarm. But there are many "reliable sources" posts around this happening sooner than later.

As long as Bill Scott is still around we will have our playground.
That is fact. Every year the US government spends more money and if you venture to the far ends of the track proplery you will see fenced US govt property with training vehicles and no tresspassing signs. So the gov owns some of the adajacent property. The new southern MD track hopes to have govt training and recreationaltional driving schools as well. google tatton park scca endorses this idea |
