BBS rears on a SC body

Porsche 911 wheel size question: I've asked this question to 10 different people and usually get 10 different answers - i am hoping for a consensus. Can a SC body style (1988 911 Carrera) take 16x9 BBS rims on the rear ? fenders are rolled for my current 16x8 fuchs. Does tire size matter? thanks for sharing your experiences... Joel

It depends, what is the offset? Bolt spacing is correct? 16x9 Fuchs I believe are 15mm offset and fit just fine.

I wonder how 17 inch rims with the same centres look on that car?

Need the offset number since they're not all the same. A ET +15mm and ET -1mm will fit a SC no problem. There is a ET +36mm that has too much positive offset IMO and you may have rubbing inside the wheel well on the chassis tub. I run the ET+15 wheels on my '87 Carrera and use 14mm spacers behind them and 245/45 Kumho Victoracers. I have plenty of room both inside the fender well and at the fender lip. I have the camber near maximum negative and have NOT rolled the lips of the fenders.

Why are your rear fenders rolled for the 16x8 Fuchs? There's tons of room between the tire and the lips with 225 or 245 tires. I have run both 14mm spacers and 21mm spacers behind 16x8 Fuchs with no rolled lips.

16x8 Fuchs fit an SC without rolling the fender.

Friend has 16x9 Fuchs on his 78 with no fender roll. The extra inch is on the 'inside' of the 9's.

Depends on the offset of your wheels.

I like the ruf mirrors, but I also have a large inside one. And we filled the holes in the doors.

Running 16x9 BBS RS on the back with 245/45-16's. NO issues at all, no rubbing, non-rolled fenders. 16x8 fronts though, with 225's, and I have an occasional rub.

Fred - Whatis the offset on the BBS 9's you are running in the rear and are you running any spacers behind them? I am in the process of having a made to order set of BBS RS wheels made in 7" for the front with a 23mm offset and 8" for the rear with an 11mm offset. I am considering making a chnage in my order to up the rears to 9" but would like to know what offset you are running. Can you also post a picture of the BBS wheels on your car?

The 16x9 et 36 BBS RS wheels will fit with a 1" spacer. The lip on those is only about an 1". I'm building similar wheels to you except I have 8" up front. My 9's should be about a 10-10.5 offset and should run w/o spacers from what I have read/researched. They will have a 2.5" outer which should have a nice dish, but not ultra deep dish.

Mike -
I sold my car last week, but I believe at home I have the pics documenting the serial numbers etc on the centers & halves. I'll check.

Ed Hughes (efhughes3??) here was who I bought them off of, he may remember off the top of his head.

Oh, and no spacers on the wheels at all. I had 1" all around when I was running the 968-style wheels.
