Absolutely beautiful! Seeing your 912 brings back a lot of memories. My first Porsche was a
1966 912 bahama yellow like yours. At least it looks like bahama yellow. I drove the heck out
of it in no speed limits Spain in the late 60's. Brought home the 70 911 that I still have. Wish
I still had the 912 too.

I must admit I was waiting to see when you'd take the sunglasses off the dash.

Nice vid, outstanding work, and a true inspiration. Thanks for sharing the journey that culminated in this.

The underside of that car is so clean it looks fake, in a good way ;-) Like my expensive CMC 1:18 911 model or something! I've followed the whole process, the incredible work and awesome documentation, and I'm really happy for Darryl, especially since he went through some tough personal times along the way... The site is inspirational in more ways than one ! Way to go !!! Enjoy the car !

Great job Darryl! That had to be very rewarding to drive it and have it perform so well.

I enjoyed the vid.....especially the sounds, like the closing of the doors, which had no interior panels and the pumping of the accelerator pedal. They remind me of my car when it was at that stage of its restoration. The great thing is it all gets better from there!

Drive it well my friend!!! :D

Darryl;

You are the envy of every guy on this forum. Your dedication, skils & attention to detail are awe inspiring!

Outstanding job sir!
As said before, you're an inspiration to us all.
It must be a great feeling to not only do such a great job on your car, but also knowing the time and effort you have spent in documenting the progress (helping us) will keep many Porches on the road for many many years to come.

I'm virtually certain that my 911 would have been been broken for parts by now. Instead, it's now sitting in the garage wearing a gleaming coat of gorgepus red paint. Your support with doing the rockers was invaluable.

Outstanding Job !!

I wish I had the time and skills to undertake a project like that.

1. Drive to the trimmer's shop to have the interior installed.

2. Drive to bodyshop for final cut and polish of the paint.

3. Install the orange Porsche crest on the hood and silver P_O_R_S_C_H_E and
9_1_2 on the engine lid!

4. Drink lots of Guinness!

It might turn out to be an even more interesting car if you swapped items three and four. However, you may not enjoy being the only person on the road with "PROSHCE" on your decklid . . .

Why not go all the way and make it say "H E R C O P S" to really mess with people?

WOW! I really appreciate all the kind and supportive replies! I'll be the first to admit that this project and writing about it in my "blog" has been extremely therapeutic and helped me cope while caring for my terminally ill wife, losing her after 24 years of marriage and then the recovery and moving on to find a new normal.

The goal here wasn't just to acquire yet another car but rather to challenge myself, go way out of my comfort zone and raise my automotive hobby skills to a new level. Funny it took 4 years... kind of like a home-study bachelors degree in Porsche Husbandry! Through it I discovered many new friends, rediscovered my true friends and learned much about myself and what defines happiness to me. I very much appreciate the kindness and compassion in the many e-mails and messages I've received over the years. I only wish everybody could indulge themselves in something they're passionate about and apply it like a salve on the raw rage that the unfairness of life sometimes brings.

Here are the pictures that bring me the greatest sense of accomplishment:

Finishing this project only makes me want to raise the bar higher on the next one... a certain Teutonic-classic silver with a red interior 1964 356C that's been sitting in my garage for the last 2 years!

A picture says a thousand words. Or in this case, several thousand. Wow, just wow.
