Remiss late introduction

My sincere apology.

I've been reading and posting a couple of years now; mostly reading. With my miltary career in full-swing I'm usually on mission or in school and I have never introduced my car.

I used to drive Beetles and when I was looking for my fifth one in 2005 my wife said, "You're not getting another one, you're buying a Porsche." After the shock wore off we searched and purchesed this '83 SC with 114,000. I'm the third owner; originally sold in San Diego, then went to Michigan and was owened by a PCA member. It is currently in San Antonio. It was pretty well sorted with new clutch, turbo covers, turbo chain tensioners. The only thing I've done to it is changing tranny fluid to Swepco, doing the oil changes regularly and tinting the windows. (I'm not an all-out fan of tinted windows), it's done solely to keep the UV off the interior, which is in good shape.

On my last asssignment I took it to John Walker in Seattle since when I bought it I was such a 911 rookie that I never got a PPI (we all learn), and I didn't have to learn any hard lessons, John said the car is good to go. I had done a CARFAX and thought that was all I needed to do. I'd never buy another one so easily.

Thanks to everyone on Pelican for helping me know these cars.

Snapper

Nice ride!
Is the Seattle area home when you are not deployed?

I call "home" San Diego. I'm a career Soldier, so really no "home" anymore. I am a legal resident of Michigan, currently live in Tejas and I'm pretty sure I'll retire to Washington state.

Welcome to Pelican. I did the same thing when I bought my 911. Heck, I hadn't even driven it before I met the seller at the bank. DOH!!

Where in Michigan did you live? I seem to recall that plate from a PCA event.

you know what they say "better late than never"...very nice car you have there. I did the same thing with my first 911 purchase, so far no problems (knock on wood)...here's to many more trouble free miles
