80 sc a/c help

With help from this group I have replaced all hoses, replaced compressor, cleaned everything up and reassembled. I figured it was time to recharge with 134. I bought a set of manifold gauges to charge it properly.Got a machine from local parts supplier and sucked it down for q hour. I closed everything up and hooked the yellow recharge hose up to the 134. I started the motor with a.c switch on and tried placing gas in the system. It seemed like it did not want to suck any gas in the system. aI took everything off, disconnected the suction hose from the compressor and restarted everything up again, I could definitely feel suction at the port on the compressor. I guess this means expansion valve is messed up. What is the easiest way to get this out and check it out? Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
