had the interior panel off of my passenger door while doing some repairs, when I found this little beauty rolling around loose at the bottom interior of the door.

Ideas? :D

Part of the window regulator. If your window still goes up and down it has been replaced and that is the old part that the previous owner didn't bother to find and throw away.

That piece is from a different year than the picture, I've circled where it normally lives. When it breaks off (as they do), the spring snaps around and rests against the post just below there. The window still works, and usually no one knows anything broke. I found the exact same piece floating around in the bottom of my door.

Not necessarily. The piece pictured in post #1 looks like a sideways shot of the bit holding the center of the spring, to the SE of the circle above. It does NOT look like what's circled...

Yes, and it was changed at one point such that there were two pieces that matched what is in the middle. It then breaks off. If the central piece broke off, you'd be in a world of hurt.

The broken part in the OP's post is the pivot pin that's holding the center of the spring in the above picture. There are two diferent styles available, make sure you order the correct one.
Our host has them.

right - they fail fairly often (or the rivet or crimp that holds it in fails) and I've seen several posts titled 'what is this?'

search up some threads on what else to do while you have the door apart - I know I've seen a nice list somewhere

knock on wood, everything works well for now...oh, except maybe the power mirrors. Another project down the road. I think next time I go back in there, I'll be replacing the door stops. And swapping out the plastic door handles for the aluminum ones. And...and...and...............

at least clean out the crud from the bottom; check the drip holes; & check for rust with light and mirror

Funny, I found the same thing inside my passenger door couple days ago; while working on my door lock. I knew what it is but too lazy/tired to make sure if my was replaced, and assumed it did (window is still working).

Mirrors problem???

What wrong with your mirrors? Mine stop working after the Babe become airborne going over some &^$#@* badly laid railroad tracks.

Since both of them could not be adjust, I was hoping for the usual "blown fuse" or even better "fuse pop out" but no such luck.

After attending more pressing problem such as; reassuring the wife that she has not been replace by the Babe... and I would start on the Spring/Summer "honey do" list as soon as Winter comes around, I decided to take a look at the Adjusting Switch on the driver side door.

As soon as I removed the top of the door (1 screw & 1 nut), I notice that there was nothing hook up to the switch... Came apart when I flew over those &^$#@* tracks. Plug it back and Voilas... both mirrors are working and everybody is happy, well I think the wife is still P.O. (her fault anyway).

you're lucky...I have a different issue. Both mirrors work, but poorly. Won't move in certain directions. Maybe need to clean up some connections in there?
