tbitz install and tune west of Dallas

In 2007 while working for an oil company in the Middle East I purchased my first Porsche on eBay, a low mileage ex California 80SC. At that time I had no idea where to look for cars and I had never been to the US. I knew nothing about Porsches except what I learned reading various postings here. The idea with the car was to keep it in the US a few years as an excuse to have vacations and see the US and then at some later stage import it to Norway where rust free low mileage specimens are hard to find.

I was lucky, the seller was honest and the car was good, except for a number of issues caused by lack of use. In June 2008 I picked up the car in South Texas and drove it to Maryland. During that first trip, taking back roads through rural America, armed with the Bentley manual and a Pelican account I sorted out various issues, like faulty fuel accumulator, clogged injectors, distributor cap and leads, installed carrera tensioner, SSIs, new Bilsteins and and numerous other small jobs. The trip was great, and I was amazed at the hospitality of the people I met wrenching across the US .

On my previous trip this summer I drove the car back to Texas without incidents. Now I am planning my third trip, from Dallas towards Arizona. The plan is to pick up the car in Dallas, go to Mayo Performance in Euliss for suspension set up and corner balancing, then hit the road towards Arizona. Somewhere while on the road I would like to make a stop and have a tbitz EFI system fitted and set up while I wait. When that is accomplished I will find a car storage and fly back to Norway until next trip some time 2010. Normally I would do the work myself, but don't want to risk getting stuck somewhere waiting for parts.

Can anyone recommend a shop to do that, somewhere within one or two days drive west from Dallas ?

Trond,

Have you tried Zims Autotechnik? I live about a mile from Zims and 2 miles from Mayos. If you need a ride just let me know.

It is unlikely that any shope one or two days west of DFW will have the sophistication to do this work.

You are better served by using Mayo or Zims and then enjoy the drive.

The other option is to find a shop in Phoenix and have the work done when you arrive.

Good luck. I'm in Dallas and am willing to help if I can.
