I quit smoking!
I found a cool tool a screwdriver-like-thingee that sets the valve lash. So I did a valve adjustment the other day and replaced the valve cover gaskets as part of the procedure. They were pretty well shot, lots of leaks in the lower covers.
Anyway, about a year ago I switched to Swepco oil and noticed that sometimes when I start up in the morning, I get lots of smoke (whitish blue) out the tail pipe. Not uncommon among a higher mileage motor so I was thinking of a top end some time soon. Always noticed the covers were moist not dripping so I didn't connect the dots till now. The smoke is gone! no oil on the covers and no smoke. Could be a fluke but for the last 500 miles, nothing. keeping my fingers crossed. one more thing, the oil return tubes are not leaking but I can rotate then and they move in and out. Is that normal? there not leaking. Thanks
