newbie question help please
I'm looking at a 911t project on ebay that I'm thinking of buying but on the photos its showing some rot around what i think is the front of the torsion bars, I'm wondering if this area takes the suspension load or are the bars bolted through it and into something more substantial, thank you in advance for any advise, regards, Vin rafter

Hi Vin,
They are secured to that area, so if it is rusting, it will take extensive work to make the repair and wouldn't be safe to drive without the repair. You may want to look for an easier project. Rutager

Vin,
Wiuthout seeing a pic of the car you are looking at, its difficult to say for sure, but sounds like it needs a new front suspension pan. Thats what the A-arms are bolted to (at the front). These are unibody cars so all the suspension loads are transferred to this sheet metal. My best advice would be to have a PPI performed by someone very knowledgeable about these cars who knows what to look for. Its rare, after all these years, that they don't need more work/restoration/repairs when the front pan needs to be replaced.
