Rear brake caliper piston question
I think I have a mutant rear brake caliper piston. I'm in the process of rebuilding the brake calipers on my '84 Carrera. While aligning the pistons using my homemade 20 degree tool, I noticed that the last piston has more recess than protuberance. Kind of hard to visualize and hard to show in a photo, so I made an illustration:
This is the shape of normal piston where yellow denotes a lower section and black a higher section: ![]() And this is the shape of my abnormal piston (again, yellow is lower than black: ![]() Has anyone seen this before?

That's a new one on me, try asking Bill Verberg or Eric Shea.

Flieger,
Thanks for the reply. I took some pictures to show what I'm referring to. Normal piston: ![]() And my irregular piston: ![]() Will this cause any issues?

I think it may cause some issues. I haven't seen many late rear calipers with the cupped pistons, but that odd one just looks wrong. Eric should have a better idea based on the number of units he has seen.
