Fuel pump relocation completed!

Well thanks to the assistance i rec'd here (Sherwood and several others who have been by my virtual side) i have gotten the fuel pump relocated to the front of the car!!!!!

Turns out it really wasn't that big a deal. And the Pierburg i purchased from PMO pumps some serious fuel. Near instant pressure!

I do have a few small leaks to address (fittings at fuel tank) but should have those resolved soon enough. Took the car for a nice ride last night (hadn't seen leaks yet) and while it's not a rocket ship from a dead stop it surely does scoot to 90 in a hurry once you're past 1st gear!!

Well i had #6 adjusted perfectly but then just before i tightened it a butterfly in Zimbabwe farted and now i have to start all over again!

Erik, do you have a parts list and outline for your set-up?

I've got to rework my entire system from the tank back on my 73T (69T motor w/ Webers)

That is also on my list for the winter, the "tray" the pump is on the 71 is in the way of the Wevo mount for the rear sway bar.
I will assume you hung it from the front suspension cross member?? stock bracket or I had notes from a few here clamping it there with hose clamps, one person mentioned sticking it inside a piece of radiator hose then clamping it. quieted it down.

Any info is appreciated.

I did the hose and clamp deal. Not 100% satisfied but its working well through all sorts of conditions.

I also did the pump replacement/location replacement on my 73.5. The replacement pump (don't know the brand, it was installed by my mechanic) came with a rubber jacket around the pump body. I secured the pump to the crossmember with stainless hose clamps as mentioned. I wired the pump to my fuseblock at terminal #5 which was unused and is switched. Now I have a fused connection which was not available in the stock configuration.

Great, can you provide a plumbing diagram......has anybody done this with their MFI system?

My 69 has the pump at the front (stock position).
Thought that was the normal place for all pumps until I read this forum.

70(?) through 75 feature the fuel pump near the rear left wheelwell, right where the hot air comes right out of the flapper box. Maybe not the greatest idea, but at least they caught it after a while.

i too ran a 12ga wire from the pump up through the smugglers box to the fuse box.

ultimately i'd like to replace the fuel lines with AN fittings throughout.
