Can't sleep tonight, so I'll take a stab.
Guess we can eliminate radio power (lite on), and I'm not aware of any radio wiring in the column. That leaves the speakers, amp/power, and antenna.

Make sure the antenna connection isn't loose in the back of the radio/chk leads at antenna while yer at it (window or aerial).
Doubt all speakers/wires go, so the common point may be the amp.
Does it have a light pwr you can see ? tricky
Only thing left short of a problem in the radio itself (no pun intended), would be the power lead to the amp (is it for all channels?). see if it's loose or if it was added (although you did say stock), maybe a separate line was added to it (under hood near batt or at the amp).
Does your radio have a headphone jack (unaffected by the amp) you could test?
CD player or anything else do the same thing?
good luck.

Does it stop working on both radio and CD? If it's only the radio maybe there's an antenna problem? I don't think there's any wiring around the steering wheel that would cause this.

Suggest you put your car up on stands and see if you can replicate the problem...

It's Rush Limbaugh extending his control of the airwaves.

I am going to put the blame on a loose connection at the amp, either power, ground or input signal. Just guessing I would say that the connection is loose and the slight g-forces of turning cause it to disconnect enough to stop working.

How secure is your battery?

Make sure your positive terminal isn't making intermittent contact to body ground. If the battery isn't properly braced, it can shift and cause the radio to cut out. Don't ask me how I know...

Turning left is so overrated. As does UPS, plan your routes with right turns only.

Seriously, though...look around in the wiring. Something is touching something (or not touching something) when you turn.

Turn right three time - its safer than turning left. A plus is - your radio won't cut out.

This is what I was taught as part of my drivers safety course when I started working at AT&T a long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.
