new set of wheels on my 87' coupe.

im definitely on the newer side to the Porsche community. i've had my 87 g50 coupe for about a year now. hopefully more parts to come. here are a few pics i thought id share...

the day i brought it home. it was on 15x7/8's fuchs

ditched the 15s and got 16x6/7's fuchs

and finally got the wheels i wanted. 16x7/9's fuchs in blk.

next on my list is an OEM chin spoiler and to lower the car. i hate the 4x4 look.
im open to comments and criticism
thanks for looking.

Good looking car all around!
I installed the chin spoiler on mine a couple of months ago, made such an aesthetic improvement.
Add to that some lowering and you will LOVE the way the car looks.

Very similiar car to mine...Here it is with the chin spoiler..

Your car looks really good...Here is a picture of my car which is similiar to yours with the chin spoiler...This might help give you the idea of how your car would look...Is your car Meteor Grey Metallic?....Also, my wheels are 7"'s and 8"'s, but close to the same look...All the best, Craig

your ride looks awesome craig.
to be honest i dont know what the name of the color of my car is.
but our cars do look pretty similar. is your car lowered at all or stock height?

it looks so complete with the chin spoiler. i MUST get one.

Thanks Jared....My car has been lowered and is a bit lower in front than "euro spec". Mine is set at 24.75" up front and 25.0" in back. I think euro is 25.5" front and 25" back...?

Anyway, I have no tire rub and the car handles well and is the right look for me

Your car loooks great! Have fun, Craig

Jared,

Your color is likely called diamond blue metallic.

The ride height you've got is not too bad IMO. Go too much lower and the front suspension geometry is altered such that the car actually handles worse at the limit. It may look better but it won't feel better. Been there, done that.

Yep - looks diamond blue to me in the pictures - there should be a paint code sticker on the passenger side front fender under the carpet.

mine too started with the 15x7 and 15x8

Then I went to 16x8 (951) and 16x9's

Then I went to 17x8 and 17x9

and Kevin is right - too low and the handling gets worse.

911 jared,

Just a point. It's always FUCHS, not fuch. Whether it's one wheel or 2.

Fuchs is German for Fox. Fuch would be like spelling Fox as Fo.

Doesn't adding a chin spoiler without the rear spoiler affect your high speed balance, thought I read that somewhere

Funny.

But I just read that a group of Foxes is called a 'Skulk'. Strange.

(Crowd of Humans, Mob of Kangaroos, Murder of Crows, etc.)

I've heard that adding a rear spoiler without a front chin spoiler is indeed imbalanced, and so not a good idea, but adding a front chin spoiler without the rear is fine.

So Jared, how do you find the handling on the 16s compared to the 15s? Is there much difference?

from my experience the 16s are better...definitely because my 15s had terrible all season tires and both of my 16s had pretty decent performance tires.

If you are contemplating having the car lowered, you should probably have it aligned and corner balanced at the same time.
One of the best in the West, is Darin at West End Alignment. Google should be able to help with contact information.
