Here are the pictures of the final results. I want to take just a moment to thank all the people that made this project possible. First of all to all the members here that I purchased parts from....all transactions went flawlessly...next our host...A great group of people who were very helpful when I had questions regarding new rubber and trim that was purchased....TRE and TruDesign who supplied the bumpers and wheels...John Holt and the crew at Holt Wheels Motorsports who were instrumental in installing the rear flares and removing and installing the glass and moldings....and most importantly my brother....who was kind enough to supply me with a garage in which to do this project, and his skills with paint gun that allowed the car to turn out quite well for a home paint job that I am very proud of. This car was built on the tightest of budgets....it will never be in excellence or anything like that...I just wanted a clean street car done the way I thought it should be done. I think I succeeded.

Turned out great Don! I saw it from a distance Saturday night - I was driving down hwy120 and saw you and Jack at the cruise. Nice Work and can't wait to see it up close.

Hi Don,

Great looking car!

What kind of baffle did you use in your muffler?

Thanks,

stormmaster 06-14-2010 11:11 AM

It is a one off M&K that he custom made for me...1 in 2 out...M&K supplied the baffles as well

Here's a couple pics I took at the cruise night on Saturday. We were the only Porsches in a sea of '60's muscle cars. But there were several neat early VW bugs there.

Don will take some better pictures in proper lighting (just before dusk) and will create an "It's done!" post in a few days. The car really came out very well, especially considering the tight budget (which was way more $$ than expected) and the amateur painter (me). I hadn't painted a car in 12+ years and Don's was my first metallic color and first basecoat/clearcoat effort. It took us 7 1/2 months to get this project done but the end result was worth it.

Special thanks also to John Holt and rattlsnak at Holt Wheels for installing the 930 rear flares and removing/installing the glass for us, and to Reggie Cummings at Pro-Formance place for the suspension alignment and getting all the lights working again. SmileWavy

Now to clean up the garage and basement...anyone need a nice set of stock bumpers, front fenders and a Carrera front valence with fog lights? There will be an ad up soon!

I have been admiring this car for quite some time even before you took possession of it........from your brother I think? I Cringed wen I saw you hauling it apart. But what a spectacular result........good work must be very satisfying.

tomphot 06-14-2010 12:29 PM

Can't wait to see it at the Avenues

stormmaster 06-14-2010 02:11 PM

Thanks for all the kind words everybody....I was told on more than one occasion that I was nuts to take a very nice car and do what I have done. I must admit I had to take a very deep breath before I started.....not to mention having second thoughts along the way. I am, however, very pleased with the results. I have always wanted a widebody....this project was worth every penny, and busted knuckle along the way. No regrets whatsoever.

stormmaster 06-14-2010 02:16 PM

One last picture I forgot to post.
