Push Buttons to open door from inside?

Hi All,

Is it true that 69 911's had a push button on the arm rest to open the doors?

Any pictures?

Anyone have an exploded diagram of the mechanism?

Thanks,
Adam

All '65 to '68's had a interior push button. You can check the PET to see the details here: http://www.porsche.com/all/media/pdf/originalparts/en/E_911-1_KATALOG.pdf . Look in the Body section under "Interior Lining" Page 387. In '69 they went to the internal pull in the arm rest.

Wow... man oh man were exploded diagrams crap in the late 60's.. It looks liek a doodle haha

So it appears that the pushrods rotates a horn to open the door. Do you think it would be possible to adapt this sort of arm rest to the mechanism from the SC/3.2 Carrera models?

I understand that the direction of movement is different.

Could some one please post pictures of the difference in door trim for 65 - 69?

Thanks,

I'll try and find my inner door handles later today... their in a box somewhere.... I was planning on just putting a simple flat panel on the door and working up a simple pull handle. I haven't really looked at the parts, but yes they may work in reverse.

Just in case anyone ever reads this thread, here are pics of what i think are the right doors. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

And if someone could tell me how to get the 65-68 door handles to work with my 86 doors I'll be very happy

I have a early Targa door up in the garage with the door pnl off, will take a pic of the mechinisam and post it later this evening.

I like the push button on my early cars better than the tab / lever on the 71, the button falls into place when I reach for it, on the 71 I usually reach across with my right hand to open it. That is a thought to swap the stuff from a pair of 68 doors I have??

Regards

I'm sure there is a piece missing here, but here's the pics...

The doors themselves are buried, so I can't get access to them...The car was in boxes when I got it, but I believe there is a round section that the lever pushes on, on the bottom.... I assume the later pull handles attach to the top of the circle and pull it forward..

Also, is it true is that the button is recessed in the 68 handles?
