"84' vs "85" a/c dash...

Is the "85" dash (top panel) with the larger A/C vents interchangeable with an "84" car? I'm looking for a donor dash so I can recover the dash for my "84", other than the originality factor I understand the later dash gives better A/C air distribution.

Are they interchangeable, and if you were looking for a "donor dash" would you consider making this change?

Thanks...

to the best of my knowledge the 84 and 85 are interchangeable, this is cover in Wayne's 101 projects.

In order to use the later dash (with the larger vents), you've got to do quite a bit of modifications to the metal dash as well as change out the air duct work.

1986 was the year Porsche switched to the big vents.

Looks like it's more work than I want to get into... Too bad, we can get good cold air with the upgrades, but the other part of the equation is getting the air distributed into the cabin. I know you can get some of the after market vents, but I'm not keen on them. Life is full of priorities...

Thanks for every ones input...
