Fuse for my electric windows keeps blowing in my 85 Carrera...?
The 25A fuse for my electric windows and sunroof keeps blowing in my 1985 Carrera. I obviously have a short somewhere, but any ideas? Could it be the window switches are worn out (contacts in switches) or any other ideas. Wiring is certainly not my strength, so any ideas of what to check are appreciated. Thank you, Craig

Does the fuse blow when you close or open a specific window or the sunroof?
If something is binding then it is possible that the physical resistance puts added strain on the specific motor, which in turn blows the fuse to protect the wiring/motor/switch... If you had a "solid" short then the fuse would blow the very moment the circuit is powered on. JM2CW

It must be a "solid" short as the fuse now blows the minute I turn the key on for power. I put in a new fuse, turn on the key and can instantly hear the "pop" of the fuse blowing. ???

My fuse has been OK, but I have to agree with Zippy_gg. Are your windows slow to close?
Mine are and in doing research for a winter project I read that the motor could be doing more or all of the work - and you'd get the result he pointed out. Next issues would be blown motor. In my case, my spring stops broke (the spring helps the motor), and the linkage lubrication turns hard.

Looks like I was writing when you posted - that might be something else as I don't think the motors are energized until you hit the window switch.
You might try isolating each window motor and or switch by disconnecting them (all 3) and see if the fuse still pops.
