I've had luck on stainless using "Blue Magic" on a buffer pad. Not like new, but better than before.

No. Tell me you're not polishing your muffler.

jcc911,
Read this. It is worthwhile. Img ![]() It is VERY difficult to replicate the original finish on a SS muffler. Even wiping it with something abrasive (and the road dirt) scratches it and is next to impossible to recover the original finish. My recommendation is to clean it with non-abrasive techniques and paint it the classic gray of prior exhausts. I am not in favor of a polished muffler where you can see the shine. If you must re-finish, there is value to a polished finish facing the engine, tin and rear bumper to reduce radiant heat transfer. Just don’t make the shine visible from under the rear. Best, Grady

I too am a happy owner of Mr. Wilkinson's entertaining read. I recall though, that the book very eloquently proved that Porsche owners are generally like magpies...

I was afraid somebody would point that out. But I don't polish my Fabspeed muffler, although I must admit it's off at this very moment and the other day I did go over it with a Scotchbrite kitchen pad...
No, I don't routinely remove the muffler for cleaning; I needed to take it off to get at the backside of the big red rear reflector, which I just replaced with a body-color c/f panel.
