C'mon....take a guess.

Finally got the header assemblies off the cylinders last night. I thought I would have some fun with this, because at this point all I can do is laugh.

So here's the big question - How many miles would you guess are on these Headers?

The worst Exhaust Valves:

And now the Tops:

Let the games begin!

that kind of buildup can happen fast. I got my money on 1200 miles. The gaskets are too fresh

Yeah, I'm thinking not too many miles either. First pic, did you burn off a valve stem?

Hugh - I have no idea what the white build up is on the valve although the valve itself does seem to be in tact. I will post actual miles tomorrow.

And the actual number is......8 miles!

I had a bad experience with a local builder here. I gave him almost 2 years to complete an engine rebuild and finally just had to go repossess my own car. He told me there were just a few things that needed to be done in order to get it running. Well I could never get it timed correctly, or even tune the carbs correctly. Then i found out the heads had no work done on them at all, none of the machining I requested. So I started tearing things apart. I hope the internals are good, pistons, rings, cylinders, crank; and that all I have to do here is a top end. We'll see....
