Tire suggestions

Just bought what I understand is the end of the MPSC tires in 17". I guess for the future I have 2 choices: 18" wheels or different tires. I don't want to do Hoosiers, since I don't get nearly the weartime out of them like I do the MPSC's. What tires would be similiar to MPSC's?

What about Toyo RA-1's, Toyo R888, Yoko Advan A048, Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec, or perhaps a Bridgestone?

I've driven pretty extensively on Toyo RA-1's and Nitto NT01's and like them both a lot. Less money than MPSC's too.

I had PS2s on and drove them down to the cords. They no longer make them in my offset, so I had to shop around. I settled on the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Specs (WHO COMES UP WITH THESE NAMES????) and they have been awesome. I use them for street and track/AX. These were a nice compromise - great on the street, all weather (haven't been thru cold yet), but slight stiffer sidewalls than the Michelin PS2s and seem to hold up much better in hard turning. I am really pleased with them - and for a fraction of the cost of Michelin. FYI the Dunlops came out on top in an article I saw in Grassroots Motorsports I THINK (within the last 2 months), Ultimate Street Performance Tire Challenge.

I've heard good things about Falkens and would have considered those but for the sizing issue. Happy tire shopping!

For your RS America? What sizes, exactly, and you didn't mention usage- is this a track only tire, or?

My current not totally informed pick of the litter, in order from street to track:

Street- Goodyear F1 Asymmetric (insanely good wet traction, softer sidewall, fast wear)
Street- PZero (new version, not many 17" sizes)
Mixed- Bridgestone RE-11 or Yoko AD08 (kumho XS and Z1 star specs also in this class, +/-)
Mixed- NT-01
Mixed mostly track- R-888
Autocross- Kumho V710 (Very borderline on the street, especially on a heavy car, no tread, goes off on the track on heavier cars)
Big track only- BFG R1 (last well at the big track, no tread, similar compounding, etc to MPSC, suck at the Autocross)

The most similar to the MPSC would be the NT-01, R-888 or R1; probably R1 if you're track only and just want the compound/ wear (BFG is owned by Michelin and I understand the R1 was built off of the MPSC compounds, etc).

I like my Advan A048s for aggressive canyon carving (similar to autocross conditions but with banking and elevation change, and a lot faster/smoother. )

Fuchs 7Jx16 with 205/55-16 Advans front, Fuchs 8Jx16 with 225/50-16 Advans rear.'

The tread pattern looks so cool and the wear rating of 60 provides plenty of smiles, and a reasonable amount of miles considering how hard I push the car through the curves. That may be due to the light weight of the car. They seem to get a little slick/greasy when hot, however (anything over about 90* they need a cool-down time after about 12-16 miles of aggressive corners). I have taken them out for a thrashing on 110* days and they stand up to it, though. Once they get to their sliding temperature they level off at that grip level.

I use the MPSC's for track only. I think i'm leaning towards the BFG R-1's. Currently have RA-1's on 16" rims, but prefer more tire under me. Thanks for the help!
