Tachometer Tick Marks Below 1K rpm

I was researching idle speed info and ran across a post in which the poster explained the tick marks on a 3.2 Carrera tach...he said below 1000 rpm, they ran in 200 rpm increments, i.e 400, 600, 800, then 1000.

I always thought they were 250, 500, 750, and 1000 rpm.

Who's right? Thanks.
