I think I have several issues... One as I tweak the VE tables my Req Fuel is up in 4.6-4.7 range. Think I need to get that lower.

Also, I notice people have VE values at around zero from a MAP Value of 55-75. Its only 3-5 all the way down to Map value of 45... my lowest numbers on my table are 19-20... and at Idle I am right in that map value 55 or so with a VE of 19-22.... So they need to go way lower.

Lastly, I am enriching when warm because I am not getting steady temp settings.

I am going to start with the temp settings. Ill keep everyone posted. Jaime recommended that I get AFR at idle sorted before I take it out and drive it...

My required fuel is 5.3 so I think you are in the range I started out rich also at idle and just played with the VE table worked it down slowly, I had to reset my base map and start over a couple times and +1 on get everything sorted out at idle before you drive it.

How many squirts are you running? I run six squirts alternating and it helps the idle afr's.

I think I have it sorted 80-90%.

I had used the Yellow LC1 wire not the brown one. I also had a lose O2 sensor.

My pulse is low at 1.3-1.6 so I reduced the fuel pressure at idle to 38 PSI (from 43).

Made those tweaks and I now have 13.3-13.8 AFR at Idle.

I synch'd the PMO's at 3k and It held at idle. Drove the car. It was incredible. Love that sound.

I do have a stumble off idle and it appears to go lean so need to tweak that section of my table. When I hit the gas at a stop sign, AFR goes to 19ish, stumbles, then drops to mid 12-13's as I accelerate. Still running rich across the board otherwise I think but I at least she is driveable.

Next up, i need to find a solution for my oil tank breather. I have been watching another thread with interest. I feel like I am very close.

I have it set up alternating. 6 squirts. Should it be set up as Throttle Body or Port? Right now I have it on port...

The other issue is I have is that I am still getting warm-up enrichment at full temp. That is another area of focus...

You are right with the port setting. As far as the wue, I'd check the setting there and make sure it's set to 100% at 160*

Also are you using MAP or TPS accel? If map (that's what I use), what is your accel time set to?

I do have it set at 100% for 120, 140 and 160. Does this mean I am not getting enrichment? That would be good news.

On Accel I am using 100% TPS. I can make this a mix or all MAP or all TPS. What is the optimal setting?

Quick Update...
 
Spent some time Tuning... Have it just about right when warm... Still a slight hesitation off idle... Usually in the 13 to 14 AFR throughout the paower range... I have some other things I need to do...

1. I need to install my early 70"s manual throttle.
2. I need to install my oil Catch can. Here is the one I chose. (Not cheap -- $82) but the inlet is 1 inch. Its the Moroso 85475. Very few come with a 1 inch inlet (16 AN) and are Aluminum.
3. I bought a CHT from Tony Bitz from the Bitz kit. Its $20 and will allow me to get the cold enrichment and IAT set up correctly. It is Megasquirt II ready. Comes ready to connect. Why reinvent the wheel for $20.
4. Still need to install my modified green wire Barry made me to the MSD.

I dont want to tune further until I have a CHT sensor. Right now I basically have all enrichment (cold or warm) turned off because I am getting wacky temp readings. In the absence of the CHT, it is reading the IAT. This just doesnt work very well...

Update...

Started using Tuner Studio. Thanks Jaime! Wow. what an amazing product. You just drive and it adjusts the tables based on the AFR you want. It drives like a rocket with no stumbles or issues (when warm) after about 15 minutes of tuning...

Still neet to get the CHT installed, manual throttle installed and get my cold starts dealt with. Cold here in Houston is 40 degrees. it was 75 today, so I assume this wont be too hard to get tweaked.

Installed my oil catch can. Word of advice, If you are using the stock hose with a 1 inch ID, you want a 12 AN inlet. The 16 AN is 1 ID but 1 1/3 inches OD so the 1 inch hose wont fit.... So I bought a 16 An to 12 AN reducer. Ill post pics this coming week.

Reading your comments in the current Digital WUR thread got me thinking about your overall project. In particular, is the manual hand throttle going to be your answer to "cold start?" Or will the CHT allow you to tune in enough cold start enrichment to handle that aspect too?

I am very intrested on you thoughts on this after using tuner studio and I wonder how it would work on a turbo motor?

I installed the CHT.

It is really hard to generalize for people not living in the south on cold start. It is pretty warm here. It was mid 70's today... I can start it and it will idle with no issues...
I am not sure if that would be the case if were 40.

I am going to hold off on the hand throttle for now. Next winter when we are in the 40's here I will test it out and install at that time if needed.

I have working auto heat, so was reluctant to rip that out unless needed.

Thanks! Car runes great. I did install the CHT.

Havent done the dyno run yet. will definitely do this however. I still think my AFR's are alittle rich, based on the amount of gas I burn, but it runs good, doesnt smell rich, so ive left it alone.

Tuner Studio was really a remarkable product. The key is a good AFR table since the software is adjusting the VE table using desired AFR. You can watch it adjust the VE table as you drive. you burn it and your done. if you do it accross the temp range and throttle range, it will do the work for you. no manual entry of VE values. If your AFR's are set too lean or rich, the studio will make a cooresponding error in the VE table...
It will also tune based on warm up enrichment, cold start, spark control, etc. It has alot of logic that makes using MS as easy as any of the higher end products such as electromotive or haltec. its also free.

I cant speak to Turbo since mine is NA, but all it is doing is adjusting your VE based on your desired ARF... So as long as you have a good table and a good wideband o2, Id think it will work fine with the turbo.

I have some more mild tuning to do... but my o2 has been cutting out so i need to resolve that before i can get it tuned any further.

I have some more mild tuning to do... but my o2 has been cutting out so i need to resolve that before i can get it tuned any further.

Check your grounds for the 02 and do a heater calibration. That usually does it for me.

I need to get my AC installed... I am very close on that... I am lowering the compressor 1/2 inch and considenting a different fuel fitting on that right fuel rail. I have the main bracket lowered... stay tuned on that... waiting till its 95 and summer to finish it, just want to drive it now while its nice.
