Steering Rack Questions

I have a 71 and have noticed some slack in my steering rack.

What year "racks" will fit in my car?

What are the differences, if any, in each of the years from 68-8?
(gear ratio....)

Anyone know where one can be sent to get rebuilt ? Cost involved?

Anyone know how to pull out the Center of a 71 steering rack from the housing?
Ive already seen a few posts in the search but none that described the Early rack.. the one I have.

Some here have rebuilt theirs. I don't think there is an adjustment screw or bolt, which would / could set pinion to rack engagement.
Tim Hancock, search him. I think he has a rebuild thread.
1968 to 1989, if not even earlier are interchangeable.

I have a clean, used rack I'd sell cheap. I don't think I'll ever need a spare.
Slop can also come from your tie-rods. Are you running the turbo tie-rods?

Doug

Thanks doug,,.. Im already running the new turbo tie rods... the slack is in the rack, as though it has a rolling motion in it. When aligning the car it was noticeable. I also have the new upgraded Elephant racing bushings installed.
