Before you boil me in oil

Could anyone Photoshop my reflector our with the same color of the car. I am getting ready to have her painted and wonder what it would look like. Thanks to all in advance.

Nnnnnooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!

I beg of you - DO NOT DO IT!!! The coolest looking part of these older cars is the PORSCHE boldly written in the reflector - it IS the look associated with the era. If you insist on it, at least pull the reflector and sell it to someone that loves it....

Just my two cents - hey you started it

Do what you like with your car, but just be smart about it. A good pre'86 reflector is worth a lot, they are rare to find not cracked or jacked. Make some panel out of Al or something, and paint that instead.

Thank you. I must admit I like it better original. Just curious of how it would look.

So what are they worth? I just replaced mine with a body-color carbon-fiber panel, not for the immense weight saving but because I don't like making such a bold point of it being a porcupine car. It's an '83 and it isn't cracked.

In perfect condition they have gone for between 275-400 $. It seems the price on these is picking up, I bought one a couple of years ago for much less, I think 125$.

Hang onto it. Always keep the parts to your Porsche.
Fashions change and you may want to reinstall it one day.
Even if you don't when you sell the car the new owner would want it.

If you must, make a panel from a piece of aluminium or fibreglass sheet.
You can get pre formed fibre glass sheet from a boat shop. It would be easy to do...
Just cut to size and mount. You could use high quality double sided foam tape.
To get it level with the lights just make small blocks of the right thickness.
You could do this in a weekend with good results for almost nothing.

The black lettering ones like yours have been NLA for years... KEEP IT!

The reflector should be available again from Porsche. If not now, in the near future. Porsche had it on display at Old Timer Grand Prix in August.
