Am I Crazy or just plain blind?

I have a 1970 Porsche 911 Targa. I am trying to find the rear sway bar to inspect the Bushings and cannot seem to locate it. Do all years have rear sway bars? Help and Sorry for the silly question.

You may not have one.

It is toward the front, ends pointing back at the wheels. I can see mine under the car from about 25 feet, as the links push the bar down. Hangs right out in the breeze.

If it is a T, they were not issued with the car as a cost savings, Great way to save a few $$ on a sports car. Hey Fritz why not just skip the rear sway bar to save a few marks!!!

Regards

I agree.......you may not have one. It would be relatively easy to spot and I don't think you can miss it if there was one.

It's relatively easy to install though........providing that your trailing arms have the mounting "balls" on them.

You are not crazy. If it's an E, it probably didn't have one, as these cars had the hydropneumatic front suspension. I recall converting our '70 E to conventional suspension and adding a rear bar, but that was 35 years ago, so the details are fuzzy.

My '71T did not come with a rear sway bar but has the mounting thingies. I've had the car since 1976 and plan to install a rear bar someday. A person shouldn't rush into these sort of things!

Best,
Tom
