Someone will dig it out, dry it out, clean it and sell it on the West Coast "Low mileage - excellent condition - clean CARFAX."

It is indeed a bit sad, but it almost looks a bit appropriate - a Cayman in the sand and water.

I never quite figured this out. If a storm is coming why not make sure you take valuable property like, well...a PORSCHE with you when you evacuate. Was there no one available to take this to higher ground?

Soon to come on Ebay?

My exact thoughts. I am often amazed to see wrecked aircraft, yachts, cars, etc... after a hurricane. Why didn't those owners move them? Those storms typically give a good 48-72 hours of advance notice? If someone told me we'd be hit with a 7.5 earthquake on Wednesday... I'd sure move my car out of the garage!

I can see why you might not be able to get a plane/boat out ahead of a storm of that size...bad weather is not kind to small aircraft and where are you going to take your boat to get out of harms way (aside from trailering it well clear of a storm)...?

As far as this Cayman goes, yes, it's a bit sad to see a P-car left to fend for itself, but it's easily replacable with insurance....maybe the owner could only take one car, so he opted to save his old air-cooled 911 instead....

Very sad but one has to assume that insurance will cover it.

Maybe a bit off topic and perhaps a little insensitive but... Does anyone have a full resolution copy of this picture? It's an interesting shot.

What a beautiful car...

-having been through several of these I can say, you can only do so much.

A cayman is very, very replacable. Family portraits, documents and other keepsakes that may not be worth as much as a Cayman aren't.

Ida was a bit of a surprise too since it was such a late season storm.

That storm was a real big surprise. They are calling it the November Nor'easter and it was as bad as the last real hurricane we had.
There is two likely reasons the cayman met its match. One is the only hwy off of the island was washed out and the other is that the owners probably were long gone being that most of the homes on Hatteras are vacation homes.

Even standing still, the car can sense the wind moving fast enough to pop the rear spoiler

Having lived in Fl for several years now I would not be surprised to find out that the owner of this car was a snow bird... Besides, its replaceable.
