Any Progress on a Serious 911 Electric Conversion?
My motor is running rougher than normal and looking at the oil quart topic it seems I'm putting more oil in than average. I could be facing the need for serious engine work, and I have been plotting to do a serious electric conversion when the time comes.
Has anyone else been doing any work on this for the 911? I imagine its not the perfect EV platform, but what else would be worth putting in 20-50k of electric drivetrain into ![]() Stuffing a Tesla motor and using more distributed batteries (LiPO4) would be my first cut at a design... Thoughts? -Todd

Still looking.
Car is getting a bit stinky, hates the short trips that hauling kids demands. -T

Hmm, sweet deal on a kit:
DC Conversion Kits I noticed the LiFePO4 batteries are getting cheaper and the BMS's are getting better too...soon! -Todd

That's one of the reasons I like 'em. Suggestion: how about a Prius?

Better Suggestion? Sell the kids? I hear you can get good money for them on Craigslist or Ebay?

Ruf has one but you might have to sell the wife as well in order to get one. Not a conversion though.

I've had the good fortune to drive an SC converted to electric power.
![]() With a 200HP motor and near instanteous torque, its quite a (quiet) ride.

I am amazed at how much these people have spent on these conversions when the results are top speeds of 70mph and ranges of ~50 miles.

Dear god... there's one guy with 20 grand into a 914 that does 0-58mph (top speed) in .................................... 46 seconds. I appreciate the idea of an electric car, as well as the work that people have put into these cars, but I am absolutely floored by the terrible performance.
