Wevo engine mounts and factory transmission mounts

I really really need to replace my engine mounts. I can feel the engine move!
Looking at the Pelican catalog I have a few choices on the engine mounts, the Wevo ones look like the way to go. On the transmission mounts I only have one choice (early square mounts) - factory standard.

Do you think there is any side effect or negative to mixing the two?

I run that setup on my Targa. No problems. I will, over the winter, order up the WEVO kit to upgrade my 901 tranny mount to their mounts. It requires some cutting and welding and of course powdercoating. The only reason for the uograde is my tranny mounts are vintage 1970 and bushings are not replaceable like the 915.

Are the 901 tranny mounts not replaceable?
Pelican sells part 902-305-492-00-OEM that made me think it is replaceable.

They're not replaceable. This is worth a look...

I would not worry about mixing the two. Be aware that the Wevos will introduce quite a bit more noise and vibration. Perfectly acceptable in some circumstances, not so much in others.

if a problem, then get the softer Wevo mounts - different color plastic in them

I have WEVO mounts on both engine and gearbox in my Carrera 3.0. They're a major improvement on the factory parts.

Great products, designed and build by a compatriot of yours. Go for it!

or you can refurb the mount

The Wevo mounts look very nice - but they are not compatible with the early mounts. You may be able to mix and match a later mount into your car.

What I did, with very good results, was to remove the mount from the car, and use your power drill to swiss cheese the worn out rubber bushings in the mount. Punch them out and powder-coat it, and then order the polygraphite bushings from our host and put them in.

On my SC I run the polygraphite bushings on the trans, and factory "sport" mounts on the rear. This combination gives good shifting and minimal increase in harshness / vibration.

yes, to use the 915 Wevo mounts, he will need to make an adapter for the 915 trans. Xbar to fit his tranny

Wevo also refurbs the 901/911 Xbars - not sure what sort of mounts they put on them

I had Buiks in Adelaide press out my old trans mounts and press in new Wevo's.

I am running the blue mounts on both engine and trans and they are a little harsh. I'd go softer if I did it again...

Cheers

I'm running the standard Blue pillows but I'm switching to black shortly.

A friend is running them and they are quieter than the standard Blues.
I didn't drive the car but felt good from the passenger seat.

I'm running WEVO's with the softer black pillows for both engine and transmission mounts. Works great. Minor increase in noise but not a problem at all. I suspect the old mounts were so loose that this is way it is really supposed to be. Also, these mounts tighten things up so that my shifting is much smoother and more predictable.

That's what I'm running. No problems.

WEVO said I could send in my tranny mount and they would install WEVO mounts on it, but I didn't want the extra vibration coming through the chassis.
