another transportation service question

i have a car that i sold online and the buyer is doing a bank transfer tomorrow for the full amount. he has lined up a carrier service already and i am fine with that. my only question has to do with the title. he has asked me to fedex the title as soon as the funds arrive, but that will be anywhere from 1-5 days before the transport arrives. since i have the payment already am i being too caution in wanting to hold the title until the car has shipped? for some reason the thought of owning a vehicle but not having the title in hand scares me.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but once the buyer pays for the car and you sign over the title to him, you are no longer the legal owner of the car. So you won't be an owner without a title, the buyer will be the owner. You'll just be temporarily storing the car for him until the truck arrives

that's just it, he won't be the legal owner until he has the title in hand and can take it to a dmv to have it changed. once the car carrier takes it i am no longer responsible for the car but by law it is still in my name until he re-registers the title.
