help finding paint code - 2003 Siemens Porsche wine / burgundy

Previous owner said he had the car painted 2003 Porsche wine / burgundy using Siemens paint. I cannot find any paint codes for what he describes online. Anyone know the correct code so I can order some touch up paint?

Thanks,

Scott

Here are picts. Anyone got any ideas so I can get touch-up paint? Or can a body shop make up a mix from a color scan of the paint on the body?

TIA,

Scott

My guess would be Orient Red, or Zanzibar Red.

Are you near a dealer? Drive by and compare to a newer one and get the code from it.

I agree with rattlsnak, it looks like Orient Red. Zanzibar has more orange in it. It could also be Arena Red, but it looks a a bit darker than your pics.

Porsche didn't have a color named "Wine" or "Burgundy" in 2003 so if its a factory color its probable one of the above.

Here is a good link to factory colors of that era.

Color could also be "Velvet Red" as seen in this ad in the for sale section.

Don't think it is Velvet Red because it was a repaint from Guards Red and the PO said it was a Boxster color. Velvet Red is period correct for SC / Carerra, right?

TIA everyone,

Scott

Rattlsnak is right...it will either be Orient Red Metallic Porsche color code 8A3

or Zanzibar Red Porsche color code 1A8.

Those are the only other 2003 Boxster Reds listed besides Guards Red.

Good luck.

Your other option is to go to a local paint supplier and see if they can eye match it. That costs about $50.00 here in CA...or $100.00 if they keep track of what they are mixing and can give you a formula at the end. They will spray it out to verify the match.

Are you sure he said Siemens paint and not Sikkens? Sikkens is a division of Akzo Nobel and produces automotive paints; to my knowledge Siemens is not in the automotive paints business.

http://www.sikkenscr.com/sikkenscr/Pages/HomePage.aspx

You can search their color code database at http://www.qnetonline.nl/cgi-nt/qnet/qnsearch.asp?site=SIKNA

Hope this helps,
Ed
