New '87 Carrera Owner
After months of searching, I'm finally the proud new owner of a Venetian Blue '87 Carrera. I just closed the deal on the car late yesterday and I'm currently in the process of getting the car to the Bay Area. I'll post some pics when I get the car home, but here's a quick one for now:

Hey Jon/Matt,
Thanks! I was salivating when I saw your blue 911s at last week's drive. Glad I could join the 'blue man group' ![]()

Thanks Hal!
Let's see, besides the obvious ('87 Carrera coupe), it's got 104K miles on the clock, good service records, has brand new Bilstein HDs and Yokohama Advans all around, fully documented gearbox rebuild about 1000 miles ago, factory front/rear spoilers, Venetian Blue exterior/Champagne leather interior (Marine blue belt line). The guy I bought it from is also a Porsche enthusiast (owns a beautiful 2007 GT3) and took excellent care of the car over the 11 years that he owned it. He was terrific to deal with and payed to fix nearly everything that came up at the PPI. I'm having the car shipped from Portland because they're having some nasty weather up there now and I didn't want to risk driving the car back to the Bay Area. With any luck, it should show up here sometime next week.

Agreed on the ET light. Just not sure how hard it's going to be to get rid of that little bugger without leaving any unsightly holes behind...

I'm a loser, baby.

Ha! The previous owner gave up that Carrera for a 2007 GT3? Sucker.

Congrats on the purchase and also congrats on deferring the cost of G50 trans work to someone else! Synchros, bearings, gears, clutches for these transmissions are NOT cheap.
Agreed on the 3rd brake light- lose it. I'd also mention the rear wiper. I've never felt deficient without having one on my car and i've driven it in PLENTY of inclement weather.

Congrats! Looks like you found a real sweetheart. I'm (obviously) a big fan of 3.2's. Your 993 is a perfect stunner in every way but is probably too fast to be involving at socially responsible speeds. My daily-driver BMW sedan is probably "faster" than my Carrera, but a nice 3.2 can be so darned entertaining on a twisty back road without power steering, ABS, DSC, CBD, AST, VANOS, and PS2's filtering out the feedback.

Great new ride and congratulations.
Except for the interior, ours could be twins ('87, Venetian blue, black interior, 48K miles) ET brake light and all!! I'm sure you can't wait for it to arrive home ... lgb240 ![]() |
