More Brake Questions
Background - I got a great deal on a full set of 964 C2 calipers. I want to mount them on a 79SC. Bill V. suggests that I look at the VCI kit. I have investigated the VCI set up and have a few questions:
1) Why do they use a bearing spacer. Can't you center the caliper over the rotor by changing the adapter thickness or location as it relates to the caliper 2) A 964 rotor is 28mm thick and a 930 rotor is 32mm. Can the 964 calipers handle either thickness is it is only 4mm. I know the extra thickness is more thermal capacity, but is it worth the huge price difference? 3) Don't you have to use special hats to mount 930 rotors to my SC hubs 4) Should I order 944 Turbo rotors or should I use 91 964 rotors. I was going to purcahse the rotors first and mount them up and them mock up an adapter from Nylon and add spaces to set the location of the caliper around the rotor. I will then machine real adapter from 6061-T6 aluminum. I know these are a bunch of questions, but I don't want to screw up the conversion

I don't want to seem too dumb to understand, but typing questions sometimes is not the best way to solve a engineering problem

As to the rest you would need to have all the specs on the rotors. I used 930 f/r but you appear to be going in annother direction. No, I don't have any plans but this is what 964 on 930 rotors looks like Front ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Rear ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
