"Ex" warning light? Tried to find this on the forum but to no avail Sitting between speedo/tach - occasionally flashes at highway speed. What is? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1261615884.jpg |

That lets you know when your ex-wife is too close to the car.... In my car that lamp indicates when the emission system requires servicing. |

try this procedure and see if anything changes http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/312992-what-o2-sensor-light.html |

interesting- usually we see the same lamp with OXS on it, not EX. Perhaps this was an early version? Anyway if you want to turn it off, you can reset the mileage counter located behind the speedo , that activates this. you will need a small flashlite, a long shaft, small diameter phillips screwdriver pry the speedo out from its nacelle look into the cavity with the flashlite for a rectangular black box with a small round white plug on one end. Push the plug (its really the reset button) with the screwdriver. it takes a fair amount of force. You have now reset the mileage counter. If you want to disable the counter, you will find a round electrical plug connector on the box. Pull that off the box- since its insulated, it won't harm anything dangling, but good idea to wrap it with a lil electrical tape to be sure. Reinsert speedo and enjoy no more lamp, or light clicking sound coming from your dash |

911 is ex Japan ; has catalytic c which we didnt have in Oz back then(78). Some sort of sensor screws into the exhaust but its end has been crimped and there is no cable. The pretty Christmas light doesn't bother me and I thought it meant my driving was bordering on "excellent" or something. Now I need to improve so it stays on all the time! |

 Well put taz. |

I'd been trying to track down that clicking for months - no o2 sensor so no light. Disconnecting the counter solved it. Thanks! |
