engine/trans drop.....
Hello all. I have everything disconnected and are ready to drop the 2.7 with trans.
Where is the best location to place the floorjack under the engine/trans for the best balance. I will probably be doing this by myself, any advise would be appreciated. Thanks again, Chris |

As stated in "101 Projects for Your Porsche 911," the best place to put it is under the sump if its the engine only. The entire drivetrain should be near the tranny/engine line, but back about six to eight inches. Have some jackstands handy to place the drivetrain on, so that you can readjust. I've only hit the 'magic' balance point right on once...

Buy them, sell them

I remember when we dropped Matt Holcomb's motor, we used two trolley jacks. One for motor and one for transaxle. It probably wasn't necessary, but then it's not my motor we'd be dropping if we screwed it up.
It looks like I have to do a partial drop to replace the engine oil thermostat in my 2.7, so I'll have to take lots of photos and ensure I don't screw it up. Gotta get it done before Summer really gets here... I guess I've always got you guys to help me out if I do, though!
