Oil leak stoper

I know that I am the one that said that you should only put oil in the oil tank, but my car has developed some leaks. One is in a fitting on the line from the engine to the external thermostat. What I am looking for is something to put in the oil that may stop these leaks (or at least slow them down), or should I sitck to the normal policy and put new gaskets in where the leaks are?

BTW, I am running Mobil 1 15W50

I can't imagine there's anything available in a bottle or can that's going to do the job, when new seals or gaskets are really what's required.

Ted-

You may want to try a couple cans of Lubro-Moly "motor oil saver". It will condition your seals to help slow/stop the leaks and also help to reduce excessive smoking. It is top-shelf stuff so you probably won't be able to find it locally, but just do a search on the web. I get mine from GPR or Bavarian Autosport. If you do end up ordering some, I would recommend picking up some valve cleaner "ventil sauber" and injector cleaner "jectron" as well.

Don't do it! If the line is leaking, replace it. There is no gasket or seal associated with this line. They usually leak where the flexible part meets the metal part of the line. Switching to non-synthetic oil may help. For some reason synthetic oil seems to be better at getting past seals and seams. I've had it leak past the cap of an unopened bottle for example.
