Threads that I've already viewed.......

How do I know by looking at the board which threads I've already viewed and which ones I haven't. I remember that on the old board, once I had viewed a thread the color of the title changed from black to orange or something like that. Is this something I can change using the control panel or what?

Threads with new stuff next to them have a small icon with an arrow to the left of them.

You can also read the new threads from the link on the upper right side on the main forums page - very useful!

Wayne-
I had the same question as radcon - old BB changed color of thread once viewed. Is there a way to set this up, so we know which threads we've viewed already?

The little envelope thingy does change color: from grey (already read/no new posts) to yellow (new update since last read) to redish/orange (more than 15 new posts or 150 replies) See the bottom of the forums page for a legend. Also, something I noticed: if the envelope icon has a black dot on it, that means that you have posted in that particular thread.

Hope this helps.

I still don't get it,.. There are several posts which I have not read at all that are yellow. Some that I have are yellow, Some are open envelopes, some are closed. Sorry,. feel like a dweeb!! I think what is happening is they are changing colors to represent changes between when I log on and off, not so much ones Ive read.

ok more on the story,. the ones ive read turn into a grey envelope. But if anyone else responds to it, it turns to yellow. BUT this does not help me at all,. Now I dont know which ones ive read anymore. I still have to pick my way through all of the posts to find the ones I have read.

all the posts on my screen are blue....

I understand that threads with new stuff next to them have a small icon with an arrow to the left of them but there is a distinction between this and threads you have read before and ones which are new.

the color coding scheme from the old board seems to work the best - I can scan the entire page and quickly pick out the threads I have been to. The new arrow to the left is confusing.

let's see what happens.

Rattlsnak;
You have to refresh to get the envelopes to change while your viewing. If someone replies, they change back to yellow which means you may have read some of that post before, but now there is new info added. Its not related to logging on and off.

The reason that the old BBS changed colors is that it used static html files. It worked just like a web page that you have viewed. The new system is dynamic working out of a SQL database. The pages are constantly changing (created especally for you, talk about customer service) so even though you have read a thread, the computer can't tell that you have.
