G-50 Speedo Sensor - should it be wet?
Hey guys.. I've been having intermittent issues with both the speedo and odometer in my 1988 Carrera Cab. Car only has ~50K miles, but has recently been not registering a speed or clocking miles for the first few minutes when I fire it up in the morning. Once the car warms up, it seems to work fine.
I thought it was the electronics in the speedo, but took it to North Hollywood Speedo. They bench tested it and said it was fine - probably the speed sensor on the transmission or the wiring from there to the gauge. I just bought the sensor from our host and followed the instructions found on this forum to replace it. When I pulled the old one from the transmission, It was completely wet (looks like transmission fluid). From reading the other posts on this topic, I was expecting it to be dirty but not wet. Since this is an electronic gadget, moisture doesn't sound normal. Before I put in a new one and ruin it too, can anyone opine if this is normal, or if maybe the mechanic overfilled the transmission fluid last time it was in for this? C

I'm certainly not an expert on the internals of the G50, but I can tell you that when I replaced my speedo sensor last month it was dry.
