plugged fuel injector

what can cause a fuel injector( 2 thousand mi's new) to clog up? After finding the one that was clogged, I used hi press. air, back in she goes and it worked fine afterwards. Could this be a sign of a fuel filter needing changing? Their was only one injector clogged,so I,m wondering what kind of hiccup was that........

It would help to know what type of injection system you are working with. I don't see make or model anywhere in your signature or user profile...

I'm sure I'll get yelled at for this, but here she goes... How long did it take you to cover 2k? A month? a year? a decade? Whenever mine is running on 5 after sitting for too long, I throw some techron in the tank and give her the old Italian tune-up and she wakes right up after a few miles. Don't be scared, an SC likes to be run hard.

Happened to me on my 73.5 with a fresh filter.......I blew it out both ways and was good to go...Owned the car over 19 years and only happened once. .Just chalked it up to: $hit Happens and moved on.........

yep @hit happens. She runs fine. I changed the injectors 2.5 yrs ago. I put about two thousand miles and at least 3 bottles of injection cleaner not techron. I thought chemically the where the same. Guess I was wrong... Thanks for the info.. on to other things, changing out my front shocks from bilstein sports to heavy-duty. to get rid of some harshness, as far as cornering forces, I'll find out and report.

drive the car!

my FF was in my car for 30k+ miles, never had a problem, not saying this is the thing to do, i just kept putting it off and never changed it. i could barely blow through it compared to the USED one off my brothers 930.

i took it apart after i took it out. i doubt anything can get through there to clog and injecter.

if you got something in the injector, are you sure you are getting it out when you clean it? has the same injector clogged more than once

I wouldn't worry too much about injectors because they can be cleaned or replaced but...........the FD is another matter. Any dirt making it through the filter will end up first in the FD and that is a real problem.

BTW: CIS fuel lines have a tiny screen right in the nipples on the FD and the injectors have a tiny screen in them.

Soaking injectors in fuel injector cleaner for 1-2 days can help.
