In Praise of A great Atlanta Based Porsche Mechanic
I rarely see many kudos on this board, but I have to recognize for the Atlanta, Ga readers a great mechanic and shop that I have been dealing with lately that deserves recognition.
In Atlanta, which is the second largest Porsche market next to California, we have many great reputable shops and mechanics, a strong Porsche dealership (Ellis), all of whom deserve special credit. One however, has at least in my book, demonstrated the integrity, honesty and talent that has won my business over and over again and I can cite the examples to prove it.......Bob Sanderson of Performance Imports in Doraville, Georgia is the one to see for Porsche repair and maintenance. Thanks Bob 1973.5 -911T 1974 - 911 1979 - 911 SC 1985.5 944 ![]() |

I like the idea of your thread. Giving kudos where kudos are due is always a good idea. So I'll add my voice. If anyone lives in New England, I can't say enough good things about the guys at AutoSport Engineering in Stowe, Mass. The folks at AutoSport specialize in Porsches, they drive Porsches, they race Porsches, and they generally love Porsches. Fair prices, total honesty and integrity, and premium quality. The only downside is that they buy from Automotion instead of Pelican. But I'm working on that !!

I and several others I know would agree 100% with you.
He did the PPI for my car back in May at a predetermined price. After the test drive, he spent twice as much time as I expected going over every detail of the car with me. He explained what was good about the car - well kept and great shape. He covered what should be done soon - new tires (done), rear brakes (rebuild of all 4 done) and tune up (done), valve adjustment (real soon) since records did not reflect the overdue service. He also covered what could be done as for upgrades and repairs, etc - tensioner update (done that!), fresh air blower motor (done that too!), rear shocks (to do yet), trombone oil cooler replacement (not yet.) He has also saved me money on parts I've needed quickly as well!

Other than myself, Bob @ Performance Imports is the only wrench that's touch my car. Great company, honest and reliable. My first choice!

Ok, I'll jump in for the west central Florida folks!! Mike Bruns with Bruns Motorsports in Bartow just installed a rebuilt engine in my car (which he rebuilt), and the work was incredible. He's been building Porsche race engines for 20+ years, and has been fair, honest and reliable. He actually worked a deal with myself and another board member so that we'll both have rebuilt engines in our cars for the price of a single rebuild! I liken him to the John Walker of Florida.
The only catch is that he works exclusively by word of mouth. During race season, he works in his shop full time, however he also is a service manager for a Mercedes dealer, so you have to be patient, as in the off season he only does Porsche work on nights and weekends. Whenever I go there, he's got some incredible engines around!!
