WDC James Hunt's '74 Carrera RS for sale
If this car could talk it could tell some wild stories....
7 January 2010 Press Release JAMES HUNT’S ‘COMPANY’ PORSCHE CARRERA RS UP FOR SALE * Super-rare 1974 Carrera RS - one of only six right hand drive examples ever made * Supplied new to Lord Hesketh and driven by Hunt during 74, 75 & 76 seasons * Offered in outstanding, highly original condition Warwickshire-based Nick Whale Sports Cars Direct has recently put onto the market an extremely rare and highly significant Porsche 911 3.0 litre Carrera RS, one of only six made in right hand drive as part of the Porsche RSR homologation process. Chassis number 99 was sold new to Lord Hesketh, owner of the Hesketh Formula One team at that time. The car was given to James Hunt as part of his remuneration package in 1974 and Hunt retained use of the car through to 1976 – his Championship-winning year. “This car is clearly an important piece of motoring history. Hunt was an enigmatic champion, and this car was with him during the peak of his career”, says Nick Whale. “That it is also such a rare piece of Porsche history too, makes this a car not to be missed by any Porsche enthusiast and it undoubtedly has great investment potential too. Not only is this one of the rarest road-going Porsche’s of all time, but with its unique provenance it represents a very rare opportunity.” Crucially, the car is completely original and retains the patina of age so highly sought by collectors. Offered for sale in outstanding order, the car has been thoroughly serviced by the UK’s leading marque specialist and is now offered for sale at £365,000. 365,000.00 GBP = $584,857.75 USD
That is ridiculous... But a very desirable car. Some rich "basterd" will add it to his collection and never drive it. lol

I'm sure it has been devalued because he was a smoker....

If anything that adds to the 70s patina...
![]() What a car... and right Hand Drive. But I can't think of anyone who could tune the Mechanical EFI system in Adelaide. I would probably have to ship it interstate to get it tuned and serviced. It's nice to dream.

James Hunt was a drinking, partying, smoking, womanizing guy who happened to drive race cars from time to time. What's not to like about him?
That being said......I would LOVE to hear the stories that car would tell!
