Does anyone know if the rear valance for an '86 turbo is the same as for an '80's carrera? Even though the turbo is wider in the rear, I believe the rear bumpers are the same and therefore the valance should be the same. My dealer says they have different part #'s but it wouldn't be first time different #'s lead to same parts.

I would follow the same logic you stated.
I'm going to cast a vote for "the same". ![]()

A previous owner had cut the valence for dual outlet muffler so I am replacing mine as well. I called Cars Inc. in NJ (they advertise in CVR PCA magazine) and they thought they were the same. They have some for $60. I then called another shop out of Panaorama (I can't find the ad now) and they said they did not know if they were the same, and they requested a picture. I will keep you posted as to what I find out.

The bumpers and valances are the same. It's the lower rocker panels/fender extensions that make the transition to the bigger fender flares on the Turbo and Turbo-look. Might have a different part number because the valance was cut differently for the twin-tip muffler on the later Turbos? Just a guess.
The parts diagram shows the same part# for the bumper and the rubber gasket/beading on an 86 Turbo and an 86 Carrera. Yes, the part#'s for the valances are different but they must be interchangeable if they both bolt up to the same bumper.

The valance for the turbo and the SC and carrera is different. The valance for the turbo is cut away around the bottom lip to clear the bigger turbo muffler. A turbo valance can be used on an SC or carrera, but to use an sc or carrera valance on a turbo the bottom lip must be cut back to clear a stock turbo muffler.

I talked to another parts place and they said that the turbo rear valence has 2 mounting studs built into it, where the Carrera one does not. My car is at my friends garage (we are ripping the engine out

I asked this question last year, and the consensus was that they were the same (or at least that a turbo valance will work on a carrera). You can probably find it in the archives.
I currently have a RUF turbo rear valance on my narrow bodied Carrera. It fits perfectly.

On my fiancee's '83 911 Turbo, there is a second sheet of metal between the valance and the exhaust/turbo. My guess is it's for heat protection. The Turbo goes to 900 degrees Celsius, which is no good for paint.
Maybe the Turbo part number is different because the part includes this adtl shield. GeorgeK |

different. 930 has 3 studs inside the lower edge where the heat shield attaches, and the lower edge comes straight down instead of having a 90°inward flange on it.

Hello
Differences are the studs for the heatshield and the lenght as the 930 has a bigger cutout for the tips. Grüsse |
