What is this Sachs electrical component

My 1986 ROW 911 Carerra has a 4"x1'x2" black box adjacent to the fresh air blower in the luggage compartment on the passenger side. It is an electrical box manufactured by Sachs with 11 wires running to it. The part number appears to be 618.113.00. What is it?
Somebody has broken the plastic box and butchered the wires. I am wondering if it is still function or perhaps a source of other electrical problems that I am troubleshooting.
